General Election 2024

On Thursday 4th July 2024 there will be a general election.

A general election is a national vote held to elect Members of Parliament (MPs) to the House of Commons. Voters across the country choose representatives from different political parties to form the government and represent their constituencies in Parliament.

Most MPs belong to a party. A party is a group of people who share similar beliefs about how the country should be run. Before a general election, leaders from the different parties share manifestos outlining what they would do if they won, take part in debates and answer questions from members of the public.

The leader of the largest party after the general election becomes the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is responsible for all of the decisions that the government makes.

General elections form a central part of British democracy.

Manchester Hospital School Superhero Election 2024

Manchester Hospital School is currently looking for a superhero to act as protector of our school. Although we have lots of people and processes in place to keep you safe, we feel that we need an extra layer of protection in case supervillains such as Cat Woman, Green Goblin or the Joker paid us a visit.

The protector will be decided through an election.

To vote in the election you must be:

  • Aged 18 or under
  • A pupil at one of our schools OR a patient at one of the hospital sites we teach at

The election will take place in the week of the UK General Election, with results being announced on Wednesday 3rd July 2024 in a special assembly and on Twitter: x.com/_TheMHS.

This booklet contains candidate manifestos for the five superheroes in the running to be Protector of Manchester Hospital School.
